Are you feeling the familiar chill in the air between sauna rounds where you are too?
I hope so! For a lot of us, a fall sauna is like the return of an old friend. The days are cooler and shorter, and the hot room welcomes us in with that familiar “aaaahhhhh.” As we settle ourselves onto the upper bench, we ask ourselves could fall saunas be the best?
The “holy trinity” of good sauna
Looking for a simple summary of what makes a good sauna? Well, the Finns are about the best at word economy and amongst the best at understanding good sauna, so, let’s consider what’s so funny about heat, steam, and ventilation? This article helps us focus on these three attributes. Do this, and you will be creating a really good sauna.
If You Heat It, We Will Come!
I had such a great time hosting Geoff and Kristin in Northern Minnesota. They rolled into town with their horse trailer sauna to pick up their Kuuma sauna stove, and wow, talk about fast friendships! Check out their guest post article here, where you can experience their cross country travels and their experiences feeling the good heat.

Sauna Talk: DIY Sauna build meets DIY Chest Freezer Cold plunge
Welcome John Richter to the Sauna Talk Podcast. John wrote a DIY Ebook on how to convert a chest freezer to a cold plunge tank. He’s all about helping others economize and realize their own cold plunge dreams. Sound familiar? We sauna enthusiasts know the equation: sauna and cold plunge, 1 + 1 = 3, and this podcast will help you along your journey (and 7,000 others) to good cool downs between rounds.
Help Wanted
Everybody is looking for help, so I figure I should get in on the game. Saunatimes is looking for someone to help manage the saunatimes public sauna map. We are keen to update and populate the sauna map, and help promote “sauna in the public domain.” Our Sauna Map Champion will engage with “saunapreneurs” and sauna businesses, helping source, contact, and populate their information on the saunatimes interactive map. Pay is terrible, but if the selected candidate is near Minneapolis, I am happy to barter and considerations could include loaning you my new Morzh Sauna Tent, help chip away at the cost of your new Kuuma stove, some one on one consulting with your sauna project, or other ideas you may have in mind, or if $/hr. is the answer, we can do that.
Interested? Please reply to this newsletter and change the email subject line to “Sauna Map Champion.”
Wherever you may be on this map, I hope you are enjoying good sauna and positive sauna salvation. Next month, I will share some more resonating action. The 612 Sauna Society has reactivated. The Sauna Research Institute has some things brewing (hot/cold heart rate variability study launch). I will be emerging from my cave, looking for you between rounds, with a smile on your face and endorphins rushing. Until then….
Sauna on!
