I know. The last thing we need is another email reminding us about 2020 (or an overly referenced REM song!).
We all share the 2020 vision about how our sauna habits may have changed. Saunas in the public domain are shut, or have adapted “reservation by pod” restrictions.
Here is some further reflection on where we have been, where we are going and what we all love.
For those of us with our own saunas, many are offering “Sauna Shifts,” keeping the fire going for a few rounds for invited guests to come sauna in their own covid bubble.
And with many solo saunas, sauna music in the time of corona has been a wonderful way to check in with folks all over the world, expanding our playlists and increasing our appreciation of the art of music before, during, or after our sauna sessions.
What are you listening to? Please share with us and check out a few offerings from familiar faces by visiting saunatimes. (eg. Wim Hof: Pink Floyd… surprised?).
In other updates, Sauna Talk podcast welcomes Travis Skinner, who is an amazingly creative sauna builder artist from the Northwest United States.

Do you find yourself sitting on the sauna bench and geeking out about bench height? We look into the Law of Löyly as it relates to the Bleacher Effect, and come to the conclusion that, well, you’ll see. (And big thanks to Tom for drawing it out for us).
We ask can I use plastic foam to insulate my sauna? Well, just as with every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, while pushing your cart down the Home Depot aisle, for every product, there is an equal and opposite reaction, too. (Thanks Nick).
Here are Seven simple steps for firing up our wood burning sauna stoves, producing virtually zero smoke up the chimney!
And finally, these five products help turn our backyards into endorphin enhanced cold plunge chill out zones. No affiliate links, just straight up below freezing thinking.
Oh, and next month we’ll learn more about the Sauna Research Institute, a newly formed 501c3 non profit, whose founding board members are right now sitting in holes in the ice, conjuring up contributors for collaborative research.
HELP WANTED: We are looking for a sauna sound engineer or aficionado consultant, familiar with the latest component offerings for both 12v/110v applications. Please email us at: info@saunatimes.com with “Sauna Sounds” in the subject heading, and tell us a little about yourself. More here.
Wherever this email finds you, we hope you’ll be having a very hot new year with plenty of löyly, and extended relaxing cool down sessions!
