Greetings from my island cabin in Northern Minnesota. The Mosquitoes have joined the fun and yes, we find that sauna is the best way to get rid of mosquito bites as we check in between rounds:
May Public Sauna of the Month
Sauna du Nord is inclusive, accepting, and accessible. Megan is doing great things in the Minnesota Northland and check out her story and sauna here.
Sauna Days 2023
12 different saunas and about 200 thermal enthusiasts converged in Northern Minnesota for the third Sauna Days event at Larsmont Cottages, Two Harbors, Minnesota. Check out what the event was like here and a day in the life here. Sauna Days 2024 will also sell out, so if you have an inkling to want to attend, please subscribe for updates here and see you there!
Sauna Talk Podcast
We have two new podcasts to share with you. Are you interested to hear from voices at Sauna Days? Click here for this recorded episode from the event… from the heart.
And talking about “from the heart,” we sit in with David Dragseth, Lutheran pastor and CEO of Superior Saunas for this Sauna Talk podcast episode here.
The Floating Sauna Revolution
As we continue to report on the floating sauna revolution, we pick up on Cedar and Stone’s Go Fund Me floating sauna project and get to check out Viking Floating Saunas maiden voyage. Can you imagine stepping off the sauna bench, and 123jump!? If you’re interested in your own floating sauna, drop me a line, and I can help you navigate these waters.
Sauna for bands on the road
Is it time for bands to embrace saunas on the road? Please welcome Francesco (Frank) to SaunaTimes, a professional musician, film editor, and now a Sauna builder. Frank shares with us what it’s like to be a musician on a national tour, and what sauna can contribute to the experience. (it is huge). Click here.
Sauna Book: Sauna Life from Heat up to Cool Down
Have you contributed your photo, story, or sauna antidote?
We welcome you.
My next book, co-authored and compiled with my thermal soul brother Tom is written by all of us. It’s my spirit of sauna shared through the eyes, ears, and soul of all of you. We have received hundreds of contributions and are just about in a final call out. Please click here to learn more. Operators are standing by!
The Wood Fired Saunas of Alaska
This wasn’t meant to be an article on SaunaTimes, but the stories and email exchanges from several who have built their own wood fired saunas in Alaska were too compelling to just leave in Gmail. Such great kindred spirits of good heat from our 49th state! These stories warmed my heart, and I hope you too. Click here for more.
Next month:
We have several articles in cue, including sober sauna, hot room venting without getting too worked up, Sauna Talk from Japan, and one I’ve been thinking about a lot, from back to my 50 saunas in 12 Days in Finland tour. Some “spiritual patina” resonated while on the bench 4 years ago at Rajaportti Sauna. I think many of you will relate, and I look forward to sharing it with you. (hint: it’s about not trying to chase perfection).
Wishing you good sauna,
Glenn.
i've not met the guys from BW, but wishing you good sauna journey !
I’m considering buying a sauna from BW in Duluth. Any experience with them? They seem great.
