Greetings from Northern Minnesota! I hope you are digging these monthly check ins. And I’ll try to keep it… simple. July, we shared some gratitude, August enoughness, and this month’s mention is about simplicity. What was once a “nice to have” in our lives, sauna simplicity is emerging as a must have.
And no better place to celebrate simplicity than while sitting on our sauna benches.
Can you feel it? A simple room, uncluttered. throwing water and untangling the wires in our heads. Sauna simplicity is our secret to help ward off the cluttered madness outside our hot room walls. And I’m glad you are digging this secret too!
Sauna burning down the house
It can happen. Bad wiring and pyrolysis are the leading causes. Pyrolysis isn’t just another word for a lot to potentially lose. Pyrolysis can creep up over time. And like the smell of alcohol on your teenager’s breath, it’s easy to detect (and do something about). more here.
Sauna Talk Podcast
We visit with Emma O’Kelly, author of the new book Sauna: The Power of Deep Heat! During our podcast interview, we dig into the reported health benefits of sauna, and her travels in ye ole’ country.
Today, we join Emma from her home in North London. And, we hear from Emma how the idea for this book was seeded through the pandemic. Plus, how the health benefits of sauna helped make the book happen. Our chat may get your endorphins rushing for mobilizing your own sauna travels.
Sauna Tents
As sauna becomes more popular, many are digging themselves with this low cost, mobility forward solution. Sure there’s a bunch of radiant heat transferring and law of löyly infractions, but the holy trinity of good sauna can be actualized in a sauna tent. It is sauna tent season and time to mobilize.
I appreciate how Overland Saunas are bringing sauna tent action to places like Olympic mountain streams and Pacific Northwest ocean beaches. I want to go surf and swim! (without a wetsuit). Don’t you? More here.
Public Sauna of the Month
Staying in Oregon. Let’s take a walk through the Everett House in Portland, and visit September’s public sauna of the month.
Are you clicking around on the SaunaTimes Public Sauna Map? Kevin and Tom are doing great work in helping keep up and air in tires. The map is for us, to help us triangulate and support saunapreneurs putting it on the line, sharing good heat for all of us to enjoy. Sauna in the public domain is growing and we are pleased to feature different sauna businesses on the public sauna interactive map.
The World’s largest sauna
It’s happening. It is as a part of Runningman, a 3 day festival on 5,000 acres in Kingston, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta. I fired up the podcast gear yesterday and sat down with Todd Ferneaux, CEO of All Day Running, who is leading the charge to bring this festival to life.
Eclipsing Therme Erding, outside Munich Germany, Todd has been testing a scaleable version of the 3,000 square foot (279 sq. m) sauna being built as part of the Runningman festival. It’s a bold, exciting project. And check SaunaTimes for more information about the mechanics and the motivation behind building the World’s Largest Sauna!
Perfect Sweat documentary on Netflix?
My friend Mikkel Aaland’s seven episodes of the “Perfect Sweat” series are now airing on television stations in Finland, Poland, Romania, and Greece. And we are looking to get these episodes on Netflix. And we can help make it happen. Simply visit this website and select Netflix at the bottom of the page and then enter the keywords "Perfect Sweat." This simple action could significantly increase our chances of getting the series on Netflix.
Next Month
Sauna Aid is embarking on an ambitious, exciting project to fund construction of a comprehensive sauna bathing complex in Kharkiv, Ukraine. This sauna complex, like a candle that lights another candle, will help bring warmth and light to people who are going to hugely appreciate the healing powers of sauna!
Thanks for sharing, Glenn!
